In an exciting Championship game the Hillers suffered their first lose, a one point margin in overtime to canon mac. The game was close to start, then several 3 pointers helped the big macs pull ahead to lead by 11 at the half. A strong second half performance with key scores coming from Corey Hunsberger and hot 3 point shooting by Bert Miller enabled the hillers to force the game into overtime. Only one point was scored in the overtime period a freethrow by the wrong team. The hillers had a last second chance with 1.7 sec left, a half court inbound pass from Jared Deep to Corey Hunsberger ended when the shot fell short.
The coaching staff felt there was a foul on the play, but refs seldom will make a call in that situation. We had strong team performances in all 3 games, along with a balanced scoring attack and great effort off the bench that gives reason to expect another solid season for the Hillers. Hunsberber and Deep were named to the all tournament team. Two games are on the schedule this week, Tuesday South Park will visit Hiller Hall and Friday we play host in our section opener vs Ringgold.
Thanks to all the Hiller Holigans for their support at the games, it helps and we look forward to seeing you at all of our games.
